Stepping Ouside Your Comfort Zone Make Time to Play

I titled this for two reasons. The first being this is my First Cuff bracelet and while it might not suit everyone its something I had to try. I started this piece about 6 months ago not really knowing where it was headed. I had picked up a bag of vintage brass door plates at a Antique store and began playing around with different ideas I added a watch face with a doll image and a miniature doll ,found this brass plate from some jeans I bought and stamped the text into a scrap of brass. set it on my shelf and there it sat for 6 months. I picked it up last week and asked my DH if he could bend it to fit around a wrist. That was it. It would become a cuff bracelet. I added fabric that I machine and hand stitched. A Vintage lace Collar and button. Finished off with a vintage brass swivel clasp and chain.

So now comes the second part of Stepping Outside my Comfort zone. I have been considering opening up an Etsy store to sell my art that is currently bursting at the seams in my studio. I know that times are tight right now but would Love some feedback from you all. If I'm crazy tell me so!! I won't be offended. Think its a Good idea I'd love to hear that too, If you have an Etsy store yourself I would love to hear what to and Not to do. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me. For those of you who respond I'll drop your name in a hat for a Gift certificate to the new store (if I open one) or just a gift from me if I don't!
In any case Make Time to Play!!!!

I think you should try the Etsy store. There is really nothing to loose in the proposition. I have had a store for more than a year and have loved almost every moment of the interaction, critiques, new friendships. It is a wonderful community of artists. It does take time to interact...but so does a real storefront.

I vote to try it. If you need help, there are several places I can guide you to to get familiar with running a shop.. Just let me know:)

Good Luck!!

I don't do a lot of 'heavy' metal....basically sterling silver and some stones, now and then....but I think there is definitely a market for your wonderful creations. Go for it, Lynn!

After reading the other comments I am just echoing their sentiments. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! And it is true, you won't know what market is out there if you don't try. A new venture for the new year. I just started my blog this year and i am SO GLAD I did!

Lynn, this is beautiful - so glad you finished it! I don't know anything about the logistics of an Etsy store (like time and money up front), but I'd say if it's not too expensive to open, then go for it!! What's to lose? After all, if you don't like it (if it takes up too much time, etc.) you can always close up. Your work is so stunning, I'm sure there will be a market for it!

Just do it, Lynn. I've been following your blog for awhile now and I think it's time to clean house and sell! If you need help, I'll be glad to buy a few things! You are one talented lady, it's time to take that step, and don't worry, you will soar.
Enjoyed this cuff, working on one myself. I told my husband I want to get married again, so I can wear and old vintage dress I would make and a cuff on each wrist!
Happy steps forward.
Blessings,
Elaine

Hi! I HAD to come back to your blog again after entering your OWOH giveaway, so I could spend some more time looking. I was about to ask you if you ever sell any of your creations, such as the gorgeous pendants in your giveaway, then saw your amazing cuff bracelet, & then your query about a shop - no such thing as a coincidence! NOW would be the perfect time to open youf shop with all the exposure you're getting thru the OWOH ride. Best Wishes - I'll check back to see what's in your shop!
