A Little of This and That

Honestly I don't know where the time has gone???
I feel  like I stepped back  5 years ago during the building boom.
Works been crazy busy.
But when I'm not working I try and get some creative time in.

Like playing with the new stamps from Oxford Impressions
Jane's Garden
I just Love these new images!!

Night Owl
A mini moon shrine and stars

Bathing Beauty Spoolie

I played along in a swap at Blissful Art Swaps recently.
Here's what I made for my partner Darlene.
We were to use a wooden spool and the theme was Bathing Beauties.
I decided on a base of a sea shell slice.
The spool became a pylon wrapped with cord and of course I couldn't forget the gull. LOL
I made a mold and casting
for the sand castle from a pair of salt & Pepper shakers,
then sprinkled on a coating of sand.
The umbrella is from Tim's Rosette die.
I love coming up with different ideas with this favorite die.
A few mini sea shells and a sun hat and she was ready to hit the beach.

Kindred Souls Art group a few weeks ago.

You Are Beautiful

A fabric collage created for my Beautiful Mom on Mothers day.

What a crazy month it has been so far.
My DH had to have a surgery that's left him without
the use of his right hand for the next six weeks. EEK.
So besides my regular day job, I've had to pull up the slack around here
mowing the yard & pasture, cooking, cleaning and everything else he did
while I am at work. Gosh I miss his right hand.....
I've had little time to create but did manage to get this made for my mom.
Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers day!

Tiny Dancers- Mixed Media Necklace

Tiny Dancers

When I was a young girl I dreamed about being a Ballerina,
What girl didn't? The closest I came was taking some Ballet classes.
That was so so so many years ago.....

When I saw the collage image
from Retro Cafe Art by Debrina Pratt with the Ballet Dancers
It brought up all those fond memories.
I new I just had to create a piece to capture those special times.
A mixed media necklace now available in my Etsy shop.

I'll be doing some much needed catching up with my
 blog hopping this weekend.

Time For Steampunk

I finished this tag forTim Holtz
April tag challenge at the beginning of the month
and I'm just now getting around to posting it.
Even though I have the Dragon fly stamp he used.
I opted for something a bit different with the Steam punk bird.
By the way be sure and check out Oxfords new website.
Just link the above link.
I don't have Tim's new metallic paint so I used metallic paint
that I use in my Faux & mural painting business.
Let's just say  you'd be better off to purchase his
as mine run me about $40. a quart.

Thanks for stopping by :0)

Fly Away Little Bird

I'm coming in just under the wire for my entry this week at
Simon Says Stamp and Show Fly challenge.
No its not done by Jen Crossley.
I've never had the pleasure of taking any of her classes
but I sure would LOVE to!!
But it is modeled after her birdhouse pendants.
Of course putting my own spin on things.
This was for a dear friend who recently underwent surgery.
I just got word she received it so now I can show you all.

While it would make perfect sense to use a piece of
brass or copper pipe for the birdhouse.
I didn't have any on hand. My DH let me cut up one of his brass shell casings.
I used a stamp from I Brake for Stamps to do the metal etching.
I have a tutorial on how to do that you can find it HERE.
I would usually use my jewelers torch to weld everything in place.
But some of the materials I used were aluminum
so went with the cold connection process instead.

Its supposed to rain all weekend so I'll be catching up
with my favorite blogs then!

UPDATE... Just heard I made the Top 3 at Simon Says!
Yea!!!! Thank you for that and for having a venue to share
our love of art.

Vintage Lace Hanging

I recently made this lace hanging with a sewing theme for a swap in the
Kindred Souls Art Group.
The stamps come from Oxford Impression Sewing Notions plate.
The little sewing machine image come from Retro Cafe Art

But these little vintage wood lace making spools...Well my
Heart skipped a beat when I stumbled across a small box of them recently.
Years ago they were used to create handmade lace.
Can you imagine the hours it took?

I'm going to part with just a few of these lovelies.
Each wrapped with one yard of lace .
now in my Etsy shop.

Every year I attend an Easter Bonnet Luncheon

Of Course she took 1st place for Most Creative.
let's all give her a BIG round of Applause!

Round Robin Book Pages

Hey blogger's thought I'd share a couple more pages I did for the
Round Robin swap at Kindered Souls Art Group.
This one was for Mary Beth. The theme she choose was quotes.
By pulling on the key it flips up each page revealing the words in the quote
along with images that seem to fit.

Next up is Faces. The theme for Eileen's book.
I thought long and hard about what I could do
Then remembered when I was a kid we would get these silly
little books that has a cartoon face on them.
They were split in three parts and you could interchange
the different face parts.
Any one remember those?

That's where the inspiration came for this one.
i hope everyone gets a good laugh when they play with the faces.
I sure did!
