Estate Sale Finds

Yes I escaped today!! Hubby took me to a couple of Estate sales this AM.
It was so nice to get out for a change. Heres what I found.

Some vintage lace, a pretty slip, vintage clock,
even a pkg of hosiery, the kind with the seam in the back.

Beautiful old Swiss handkerchiefs, some still in the package!

Some black gloves, old velvet ribbon (its so soft)
and a lace scarf like my Grandma used to wear to church every Sunday.
 An old Dictionary Circa 1937
Sorry pics so dark!

A beautiful box of vintage cards.

An entire box of vintage cards for $1.00,
some still have a price tag on the 2 for 5 cents, WOW

Some borrowed ancestors, love the hardboard frames they were in.
I think she through these in for free!

A vintage tin to hold my goodies and a nice old wood tape measure.

Just a little bling, most was way out of my price range.
All in all it was a lovely morning and we got back way before it got hot.
Now I'm ready for a nap!!

Artistic Outpost New Releases

My Apothecary Box
With Halloween right around the corner I had some fun using the new Apothcary images from Artistic Outpost, they just seemed to go hand in hand or should I say " bone to bone "
with a Mad Dr. who just maybe giving out the wrong prescription to some unsuspecting victim.
Those label stamps fit perfectly on the bottles of tonics and potions.
So whats your prescription for fun?
I'd say these new stamps are mine.!!

Apothecary : Before the invention of the drive-thru Walgreens®, the apothecary was not just a dispenser of medicines, but also a mix-ologist of tonics, keeper of secrets, and giver of advice.  Antique apothecary bottles are highly collectible in part due to the “mystery” of what could actually be in them.  Our AO stylized bottle has a blank space that our “product” labels fit perfectly into…or hand write your prescription on our vintage Rx pad.
Halloween Treats :  Growing up, our Halloween decorations were Technicolor large die cuts of pumpkins and kitty cats and witches on broomsticks.  These stamps remind me of those “cardboard” cut-outs.  How I wished we had saved them!   Try mixing this set with our other Halloween collections as well as Apothecary!
Frosty & Friends :I love the sweetness of vintage Christmas cards.  The secular imagery was dreamy and cute...so sugary sweet my teeth hurt just to look at them.  This collection features some of our favorite images from our own AO collection of vintage ephemera.
Please note that due to the high volume during new releases, that “mounted” stamp collections may take 10 days to ship.  We will keep you posted on your order, and thank you so much for visiting our outpost.

Sometimes life Isn't fair!!!

I wasn't sure I wanted to post about this. Only a few of you know already but here goes....

I've had some complications from the  surgery I had last Sept. I never expected this at all.
On Wednesday I went to see my Dr. for a lump by my belly button. He said it was a hernia, not such  a big deal or so we thought. Since my scar was so large my surgeon decided to use a scope to see what was going on inside. Well its seems I had 5 hernias  and my intestines had attached themselves to the inside of my stomach lining. Along the bottom of my scar there was an area that recessed in.
So the next AM I had to go in for yet another surgery. My Dr. repaired the hernias and attached mesh over my entire stomach to hold everything in place using 45 pins. He had to cut away tissue from the lower area and pull the skin together, He also had to cut the intestines away from my stomach lining.
I have 8 places on the outside with multiple stitches where it holds everything in place.
It was supposed to be a simple surgery but you know me, nothing seems to be simple these days.
4 hours later I was sent to recovery , they couldn't give me any pain meds because my blood pressure was to low and I wasn't getting enough oxygen.  So I spent two hours in excruciating pain until I was stable enough for pain meds. I had to stay overnight. I have a brace to hold everything in plaee for now.
I'm home now and on strong pain meds. Hopefully this is the last of it!!!! Recovery is around 6 weeks.
But I thought you all might be wondering why I won't be posting much.
So yes sometimes life isn't fair. I guess you could say I'm having a pity party these days!!!
