Proud Parents

You know I don't share much of our private life on my blog,
but in this case I just had to tell you about our son Josh.
He tells us he was meant for the military and he was right!
Josh left for boot camp back in April.

He Loved it!! Who loves boot camp? strange I know.
But during his time he earned the highest award given. Out of 170 recruits he was awarded the
Distinguished Honor Graduate.

During graduation the offices would slip coins into Josh's hand with their handshake.
He received four coins.
This one was given to him by a Two star General for Excellence.

back of coin.

This was for Honor Graduate.

other side of coin

For Excellence Artillery Brigade

and another!!!
One other young man received a coin, but to get four was quite an honor!

Then he was given a very coveted signed football
by the camp Commandant and the two star General.
He tells us theres only four of these on base and he has one of them!
We regret to say we weren't able to attend his graduation as
I was recovering from one of my surgeries and unable to make the trip. sob sob

A pic of his platoon.

He went straight on to his training. So we hadn't seen him for 5 months.
He came home for a few days and was able to fill us in on his adventures.
He's now back at Fort Sil and getting ready for officer candidacy school.

Were so proud of Josh not only for the awards he has received
but that he has decide to dedicate his life to serving his country.

God bless all our young men and women
 who serve in the military!

  24. You have every right to be proud - such a wonderful achievement. Please pass on my congratulations and best wishes to Josh.

My niece married an army man - a career solier not one of these short haul folk. Announcements here about the cuts our Govt. is making to the armed forces knocked him for a six as he doesn't want to be anything else - luckily he just had confirmation that his job is safe.

I think it is wonderful that these young folk are so proud of their countries that they want to protect them. God bless them all.
