Day 8 Tag and My Cowboy Santa

I think I somehow skipped past this one. Anyway....  I wasn't really crazy about Tim's color choices so went out on my own with blue and white, I Love the tone on tone effect. I didn't have that little house die ( on my wish list) so I stamped the image from Artistic Outpost steampunk plate. The snowflakes, text and swirls all come from Artistic Outpost. I'm linking this to The Artistic Stamper and Arty Jen.  I added a little sparkle snow on the ground but doesn't show well in the picture.

                                     My Cowboy Santa
I thought you might like to see my very first hand carved piece I did. Must have been about 12 years ago. I have hand carved at least a dozen or so different things since.
He's all hand carved from basswood. I used carving knives and gouges.

I just love he little pillow sticking out from his Santa suit. and his stick horse.

Yee Haw!!!!

  2. I LOVE your cowboy Santa. I used to sketch vintage Santas on 1-inch pine, cut them out with my band saw and paint them with oils, (I'm using a pair for my Sunday Postcard entry, but my one attempt at carving was less than successful. BRAVO to you for your cowboy. He's a charmer!

  20. Well, let me just say right off the bat that it amazes me that your FIRST attempt at woodcarving turned out so impressively.
Secondly, I love the way you stamped the snowflake design on your santa and sleigh (Tim's Tag) and the little sentiment you included. What a great idea to use that OI house in the background. Love when we can use stamps from Halloween sets for Christmas.

  33. Love your tag but that Santa is gorgeous!!! My dad would have loved it! It really reminds me of the years he played Santa for the grand kids. He was smart enough to change out of his cowboy boots or it would have given him away for sure!!!
