Hoarders

Well if your ready for a laugh and who isn't? Shelly at Bungalow Bling has the funniest contest going on right now. If your a hoarder and brave enough to show your stuff you might just win a prize, but this isn't just for Hoarders, its also for projects gone wrong, Well to be honest most of my projects gone wrong hit the trash before the glue is even dried.

But I do have a little something to share. I Love old vintage hats, The kind with Gorgeous flowers that I can pluck and use in my art. Well, I had one that was looking a little dingy and because its white I thought I'd give it a little cleaning, you know hand wash it in some Delicare should do the trick. Here is my result.

WARNING.... Not for the Faint at Heart
Never wash a vintage hat. the glue they used back then just turned to goo, the flowers? well you see for yourself. This has been sitting on my dresser for 5 months. I just can't bare to toss it out. How sad...
Now go have a good laugh!!!

I laughed out loud! Maybe after five months, you can let it go to the dumpster in the sky! Too funny! Loved it!

I love the pic at the top of your post - that has got to be me LOL - but no! I'm not brave enough to post pics.

Oh your poor hat, things always seem so logical at the time...until they go wrong. I think the birds nest idea has possibilities.

Oh, this is so funny. Now, as far as I'm concerned. I'd never throw that away. I must be the worst hoarder in the world because I grew up with the addage "waste not want not" and that includes art supplies. I'd keep it til some project would require it's use. It would go great with a shabby chic theme wouldn't it? LOL

I was also looking at those flowers and wondering if you could dye them or something. Oh dear!

Okay, now that you have shown the bloggy world that hat, you have all of our permissions to THROW IT OUT! Some things just can't be saved! Although . . . maybe turn it upside down, stick a plant in it, a couple of bird's eggs . . . Nope, changed my mind. You really MUST keep it!

Thanks for letting us know that even the most talented gals make mistakes too!

Ok ...I'm laughing! Not at you but with you !!! I am convinced the second I throw something like that poor hat out I will instantly think of a project that has to have some part of it tossed object to be complete! Still LOL! Nan

Hey there, Lynn!!! I know you can use that hat for something, but I'm really scratchin' my head over the color of your hand--is that what they mean by being "caught red handed?" :-)

Oh, so sad it looks sort of like wadded up kleenexes, boo hoo. I know what you mean, I hate to throw anything old away, disaster or not!

Haha! Thanks for sharing that Lynn! I shall go off and have a look....

Kim said...

LOL...that looks like something I would do! But no worries, you'll find a use for those flowers. I collect vintage hats too but never wear them. Maybe we should start wearing our collections? xoxo

I told our county fair superintendent for 4-h that we should have a table next year at the fair for 4-h project disasters. My 10 y/o would have had a couple of great ones to add to it. Who doesn't have some disasters?!

I would enter this horders contest, but I am afraid Oprah or someone would show up with a camera crew- I craft late at night, so I need supplies on hand as the stores are not open that late...LOL I do not have any vintage hats but I am happy to know I am not alone in saving stuff....!!! I bet you can still use those petals on something......LOL

The first image scared the crap out of me!

Have you seen the show "Hoarders" on A&E? Your woman at the window is exactly the picture my mind paints when I see that show.

I feel so sorry for those people ... even as I dig through a box of junk to find the broken, torn or crushed whatever it is that I couldn't throw away.

Keep the hat. What the hell. You know how styles cycle ... grunge is cool now. Surely "Completely Destroyed" can't be far behind. :)

Electra said...

OH MY. You could wear it to church. ;-)

Lynn, I've been thinking about this hat and I wouldn't toss it out. I would still cut the flowers of it and use them on something. They've got to be really raggy and messy now. I think a little paint or ink and some glitter would give them some life but the shabbyness (is that word?) is still quite useful!

Too funny! I would take a picture of my walk-in craft closet...but I can't get in it! :D
