Stained Glass- So Long Ago

After talking with an online friend Lynne at Occasional Scrapper
and seeing her stained glass shes working on for her home (Go check it out Its really Beautiful) I had mentioned I used to do stained glass a lot. Other than doing some small pendants now and then and a few carved glass pieces for my clients I hadn't done any real stained glass for at least 10 years. I told Lynne I'd share some photos of my long ago creations. So since I dug up the old photos and scanned them I thought I'd share with you all some of my old pieces.
A carved glass piece I did for Fox 12 TV station. Yes that's me standing in front of my newly installed glass. I did this about 10 years ago.
An etched glass cabinet for a client.
A stained glass piece for a clients front door.
Two carved glass pieces for Atlantis Dental. There much larger IRL.
A stained glass carousel Horse. I must have done this about 25 years ago.
A carved glass Heron.
Two side lites for a clients door.
My first Black carved glass piece about 27 years ago.
A large window for a client. They picked the design and colors. My least favorite piece. Some flowers.

The next three pieces are in my home I did the octagon window when we first bought the place 24 years ago, and its still there.
A chippy cabinet in our bathroom
and another cabinet in our bathroom.
I've done so much more over the years but these are the only photos I could find. I even did a few lamps. Probably the hardest thing to do. Hope you enjoyed my walk down memory lane! LOL

  3. Lynn -

These are just beautiful pieces! Why did you stop? I've always wanted to learn how to do stained glass, one of these days I will. I have managed to fit in about 4 classes on making lampwork beads. Really fun - although I got so into it the first time, I put one of my acylic nails in the flame without realizing it - LOL! No harm done - I just quenched it in water!!

  15. Wow, these are awesome. I liked your least favorite a lot. It has an end of the day feel when the sun is setting and hues of color in the night sky seem to change and reflect over the mountain tops. My favorite is the dream catcher. Gorgeous, I've never seen one in staind glass before.

  20. Wow, Lynn, you are so wonderfully talented in so many different media!! Love the carved and stained glass pieces. And seriously, by my calculations, I guess you were doing some of these pieces when you were about 10 to 12 years old!?! (tee heee) Have a great weekend!

  21. Lynn, your stained glass is wonderful. I used to be a stained glass artist as well. One window led to another and I finally opened my own store front. It was successful but fortunately or unfortunately, I sold so much and had so many custom pieces to do that I had to hire people to work for me. I gave them my original designed patterns and they did a great job with them but somehow, I lost something in the process. My own creativity. I think as an artist, we must create and take our work to the very end.

Your pieces are exciting but I understand all too well the need to move on to other areas of art. To only create in one medium causes eventual stagnation...your new work bespeaks of your ongoing journey with art with the wonderment of not knowing where it will lead you. Congratulations!
